Q: How familiar are you with the Santa Susana Field Laboratory (SSFL)?
A: Somewhat familiar
Q: Which of the following are your top priorities regarding SSFL? (Select up to three)
A: Protecting public health of nearby residents, Protecting drinking water and watersheds, Transparency and public access to data
Q: Which statement best describes your position for the Santa Susana Field Laboratory cleanup?
A: A complete “Background” cleanup to remove all man-made contamination or equivalent
Q: Please explain your choice in a few sentences.
A: The communities near SSFL have waited far too long for a cleanup that meets the commitments made to them. Allowing Boeing to remediate only a fraction of its contamination is not a cleanup — it is an abandonment of the people who live, work, and raise families in the surrounding area. As Insurance Commissioner, while my direct regulatory authority over the cleanup itself is limited, I will use every platform and tool available to support full remediation, demand transparency, and ensure that affected residents are not left exposed to ongoing health and environmental risk.
Q: Have you received campaign financial support from the Boeing Company this election cycle?
A: No.
Q: If elected, what specific actions would you take regarding the SSFL cleanup, and what outcomes do you hope those actions will achieve?
A: I will use the platform of the Insurance Commissioner's office to publicly support full background-level cleanup, coordinate with local elected officials and community advocates, and push for complete transparency in data and decision-making — with the goal of ensuring Boeing meets its legal obligations and the surrounding communities are no longer left to bear the cost of decades of contamination.
Q: Optional: Is there anything else you would like to share with voters about the Santa Susana Field Laboratory (SSFL) and the cleanup?
A: The people living near Santa Susana deserve the same protection and accountability that any California family would expect. This is not a partisan issue — it is a public health and environmental justice issue. Corporations that created contamination must be held fully responsible for cleaning it up, not given regulatory cover to walk away from their obligations. I stand with the community on this, and I will not be silent.
Q: Given that Boeing’s portion of the SSFL cleanup is scheduled to begin in summer 2026, how high a priority will the SSFL be during your term in office?
A: High priority

Q: Which of the following are your top priorities regarding SSFL? (Select up to three)
A: Protecting public health of nearby residents, Protecting drinking water and watersheds, Preventing toxic exposure/fugitive dust during cleanup work
Q: Which statement best describes your position for the Santa Susana Field Laboratory cleanup?
A: A complete “Background” cleanup to remove all man-made contamination or equivalent
Q: Please explain your choice in a few sentences.
A: As an environmental science teacher, I am aware of the states routine failure to deal with clean ups after man made disasters. Our government is in coalition with big business and always puts profits before the health and safety of ordinary people and the planet. We must implement rigorous science backed standards that deal with clean up and remediation across the entire state. Currently the state and those often responsible for these disasters propose halfway measures, which are more focused on cosmetics rather than actual science of rendition. This has been the case in Altadena and Palisades after the LA fires and it is the case now with the Santa Susana Field Lab.
Q: Have you received campaign financial support from the Boeing Company this election cycle?
A: No.
Q: If elected, what specific actions would you take regarding the SSFL cleanup, and what outcomes do you hope those actions will achieve?
A: As Insurance Commissioner, I can make big corporations like Boeing and others in the fossil fuel industry pay for the damage they created in our environment. Through fees and more oversight, we will also make sure insurance companies are providing full compensation to all those negatively affected by Santa Susana Field Lab.
