It weakens radiation protections. The proposed changes are not adequately supported by current science. I oppose moving away from the Linear No-Threshold (LNT) model. I oppose eliminating or weakening the ALARA principle. Low-dose radiation exposure can still present risk and uncertainty. Children, pregnant people, workers, and other potentially vulnerable populations need strong protections. Communities already affected by radioactive contamination should not bear additional risk. Radiation standards should prioritize public health and safety. When scientific uncertainty remains, radiation-protection policy should remain protective.
