SSFL Workgroup Meeting "Cleanup Crisis, Finding a Path Forward"

  • Simi Valley Cultural Arts Center 3050 East Los Angeles Avenue Simi Valley, CA, 93065 United States (map)

The SSFL Workgroup has met for 30 years to educate and update the community about the Santa Susana Field Lab, one of America’s worst nuclear accidents, located in the hills above Simi Valley. The cleanup of the site has entered a crisis mode as the owners of the site have recently declared they will leave up to 100% of the carcinogenic chemical and radioactive waste on the site permanently. They will implement their illegal and recklessly dangerous agenda this summer unless stopped.

Guest Speaker, California EPA Secretary Jared Blumenfeld, will address the problem and discuss possible solutions for going forward with a safe and legal cleanup of the site. A Q&A will follow with experts such as Dan Hirsch, president of Committee to Bridge the Gap, and others.
