Washington DC, 2026

Every year, PASSFL goes to Washington D.C. with the Alliance for Nuclear Accountability, a coalition of communities and advocates who have been impacted by the US Department of Energy’s nuclear contamination. This year, Melissa attended to advocate for the complete cleanup of the Santa Susana Field Lab, and support our friends at sister-sites. She was able to meet with staff from CA Congressman Brad Sherman and CA Congresswoman Julia Brownley, as well as members of the Department of Energy’s Environmental Management team.

As a result of the meetings, Reps. Brownley and Sherman sent this powerful letter to the Department of Energy, reminding them that they are being held accountable.

Parents vs SSFL

Parents living within miles of one of America’s worst nuclear accidents, the Santa Susana Field Lab, are demanding the full remediation of the site to protect their children from exposure to the lab’s contamination.
