Background:

Last year, the Los Angeles and Ventura County Board of Supervisors (BOS) passed similar resolutions to sue the Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC) if the Santa Susana Field Lab’s Programmatic Environmental Impact Report (PEIR) wouldn’t result in the complete cleanup of the site.

The PEIR will let Boeing leave 90% of their property contaminated and 65% of NASA and the Department of Energy’s soil contaminated at the Santa Susana Field Lab. It’s a trainwreck of an agreement that limits how much soil can be remediated in the future. Despite the DTSC’s claims, it’s a decision document.
