Water Data FAQ

  • The SSFL’s National Pollution Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Permit is administered by the Los Angeles Water Board. The permit determines how much water pollution from the SSFL can enter the local waterways. Boeing can be fined for “exceedances,” the amounts of pollution above the NPDES permit limitations. The permit is renewed approximately every five years.

  • According to the Los Angeles Water Board’s NPDES permit, the Boeing company is responsible for collecting and reporting the water runoff data and making it publically available.

  • In 2024, PASSFL and other Environmental non-profits worked to influence the court to protect a stronger NPDES permit at the SSFL. Read more.
