*Peaceful Demonstration at 6 p.m.*
NASA Meeting 6:30 - 8:30 p.m.
Corporate Pointe at West Hills
8411 Fallbrook Avenue
West Hills, CA 91304
NASA proposed in their newly released Draft Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement (SEIS) that they intend to break the legally binding 2010 clean up agreement they made with the state of California and Dept. of Toxic Substances Control, leaving up to 80% of the contamination on its property not cleaned up.
They are also refusing to make at least 75% of the references in the draft and appendices available to the public for review! In addition to hiding this critical information from the public, they are also doing their best to silence public comment and critique by changing the format. Instead of holding official hearings, the entire meeting will be an open house with poster stations staffed by NASA personnel. People who want to give public comment are supposed to go to a table in the room during the open house and talk one on one with a court reporter. This completely unconventional and outrageous arrangement prevents the community, media, and elected officials from learning critical information about NASA’s plans to walk away from cleaning up most of the contamination. We have to let them know that we will not let them silence us!
We need as many people to attend NASA’s meetings as possible. We will also have a peaceful protest prior to the meetings at 6:00 pm. These two meetings may be our last legal opportunity to oppose NASA leaving 80% of their dangerous, toxic, carcinogenic waste on site permanently. Please join us.
