The DTSC is hosting an online workshop about the Department of Energy and NASA’s obligations to clean up their portion of the Santa Susana Field Lab to “background,” or to remove all man-made contamination.

However, we already know in the Programmatic Environmental Impact Report (PEIR) that the Dept. of Energy and NASA won’t remove all the contamination for a “background” level cleanup. By exploiting protections for cultural and biological resources, they plan to leave over 63% of their acreage contaminated instead.

This is an opportunity to hear the lies directly from the DTSC about how they will justify allowing the polluters to leave dangerous contamination behind - even radioactive waste - putting the wildlife, water, environment, indigenous people, and residents at risk.
